Character
Name: Christian Jude Oriel
Age: 24
Occupation: Mechanic
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Power: Freezing

Personality
Positive Traits: kind, faithful, trustworthy, gentle, caring, sweet, religious, athletic, monogamous
Negative Traits: a bit short tempered, stubborn, basically a mute (can hold a good conversation when he wants to, though), has too much faith in people, can hold a grudge
Strengths: faith, fixing things, sports; track and hockey, always thinks everything through; rarely acts on impulses.
Weaknesses: finding out and accepting who he really is, his family and having their approval, ice cream; you will win this kid’s heart with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk
Brief Summary:

Christian is the type of person, who would literally jump into a burning building just to save someone who was trapped inside, but wouldn’t do it for the praise or the glory. He’d do it because he knows it’s right, and he wants to help as many people as he can. If the entire neighborhood ran up to him and told him what a hero he was, he’d just give a very modest smile, rub the back of his neck and tell them that they ought to be focused more on the person he had saved than him. He’d also be the one to think that anyone else would have done the exact same thing, were they in his position. He thinks that everyone has some good in them, and that people choose their own paths.

He is loyal to his family, his friends, and his church, and those things are the most important things in the world to him. The boy knows how to have a good time, and parties with his friends (alcohol at times, never drugs), and is never one to force his religious views onto others. He hardly ever curses, and is usually named the designated driver when he goes out with his friends, but he doesn't care. He has fun without being completely drunk. Actually, he's never actually been drunk.

People may think that he's strange, and a bible hugger, but...he's really not like that at all. He isn't constantly talking about God, or his religion, but he does tend to have a weird schedule, since his mother makes him go to morning mass with her. He's also really into cars, and motorcycles, and is the number one guy to go to if you need help with either.

History
Family: Mary Ruth Oriel [Mother], Peter Joseph Oriel [Father], Joseph Peter Oriel [Brother], Ruth Mary Oriel [Sister]
Brief Summary:

Christian Jude was born into his family at about 5:00 in the morning on an abnormally cold day in July. Mary and Peter had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of their third child, even though they had only planned on having 2 children. Mary always wanted a little girl, and a little boy, and was oh so happy when Joseph and Ruth were born! Not that Christian was an exception, of course! He was just…a surprise, really. He was conceived on New Years, after the young couple had just returned from a party being held at their church. The neighbors had been watching their 2 children, at the time 8 and 10, and the two wound up making love until the early hours of the morning. A few weeks later, Mary found out that she was pregnant! She was ecstatic, and went to church right away to pray, thanking the lord for blessing her with another child that she could love, and raise to do some good in the world. They named him ‘Christian Jude’, since the entire family was named after biblical figures, and his two siblings already held both parent’s middle and first name. ‘Christian’ was more homage to the religion she was so faithful to, but ‘Jude’ came to mind only when he was born. There were complications, and the doctors for a while thought that he was going to be a lost cause…so what better name to give their little miracle than the name of the patron saint of lost causes?

Growing up in the Oriel house was very different than many other households. They said grace every day before eating, they prayed before they went to sleep, and they preyed when they woke up. There was no cursing allowed in the house, and every time you let a naughty word slip up, you were expected to pray and apologize to God, and then confess your sin the next time you were at church. His parents never hit any of their children, and they never forced church onto them. They actually wanted to go…for a while. Eventually, Joseph hated it. He rebelled against the church, and would skip mass, and go out partying with his friends. Christian would comfort his mother when she would be upset about it, and told her that God was surely looking out for his brother, and her son. That was his excuse for everything, really. That they were just destined for greater things, and had to go through horrible situations before they could be whole, and complete. It could get to be fairly obnoxious at times, to other people who weren’t as religious as his family was, but he’d just shrug it off. He even tells himself this phrase, over and over. Ever since he started having dreams about things and people he wasn’t supposed to be having dreams about, he just told himself that it was nothing. That maybe God was testing him, at 13 years old. That had to be it.

After graduating from high school, he kept his relationship going with his long time girlfriend before she moved away to college. After the breakup, he went to school to be a mechanic, since he would always help his Dad fix the family car, or fix the neighbor’s car at no charge at all. It was inconvenient to everyone when he got a job, because now they had to pay him to help them out, but they were all proud of him for doing what he wanted to do. By the age of 21, he had moved out of his parent’s house and got a small apartment nearby. It was close enough so that he could walk to his church and to his parent’s if he wanted to, but it gave him his own space.

Right now, Christian is trying to not only figure out who he is, but what exactly his purpose is in life. There’ve been signs of him being able to do remarkable things, but he isn’t quite sure what any of it means. He isn’t quite sure of anything anymore.
